The publication

Technology deserves a closer look.

Independent product research for the things we bring into our homes and put to work.

Tech Standpoint grew from an idea its founder had been considering for years: a technology publication that gives readers the detail needed to make a considered purchase. The public publication launched on 9 October 2026.

A publication about the whole purchase.

Tech Standpoint examines useful technology through the details that shape ownership: the setup, the recurring work, the software, the support and the compromises. Our coverage spans phones, laptops and tablets, audio, gaming, TVs and streaming, cameras, smart home devices, 3D printing, wearables and robotics. We examine the everyday devices and specialised tools that readers bring into their lives.

We write for readers in Canada and the United States. When a source describes a model sold elsewhere, the review identifies the regional context and the questions a North American buyer needs to resolve. A familiar model name is not a guarantee that every configuration, accessory or service is the same.

This is a new, independently published review library. Its launch articles are research reviews built from manufacturer documentation, available support material and original analysis. They are not accounts of laboratory or household testing. We do not assign performance scores to machines we have not measured.

Research still has a useful role. Product documentation can establish whether a feature exists, explain a maintenance process, reveal a regional limitation or raise a question that a buyer should ask. The review's job is to connect those details to a real ownership decision while keeping the limits of the evidence visible.

What comes next.

As physical review units become available, we intend to add original photography, repeatable task observations and longer-term follow-ups. Each hands-on report will identify the machine, relevant software version, setting, method and source of the review unit. An update will explain what changed rather than silently turning an earlier research article into a claimed test.

What independence means here.

A manufacturer may correct a verifiable factual error. It cannot buy a favourable verdict, remove a documented limitation as a condition of supplying a unit, or approve the editorial conclusion. A loan, gift, sponsored placement or affiliate relationship will be disclosed alongside the relevant coverage.

Our standard is straightforward: make the evidence useful, keep the language proportionate to it, and give readers enough detail to make their own decision.
