The short answer
Start with the warranty, because it's the biggest difference between these brands in Canada. Dreame covers a robot vacuum's main body, sensors, camera and docks for three years, but only when you buy from Dreame's Canadian site or its official store on Amazon.ca. Roborock and Ecovacs each give you one year. On a machine with pumps, a water system and a motorised dock, that gap matters more than the suction number on the box.
On cleaning there's no runaway winner. Ecovacs leads on mopping and obstacle scores in Vacuum Wars' current rankings, Roborock has RTINGS's top overall robot, and Dreame is strongest on carpet and pet hair. I own one robot on this page, the budget Dreame D20 Air Plus (hands-on review: Dreame D20 Air Plus review). Everything else comes from named testers, brand documents, Canadian store listings and owner threads, and the other review links are research reviews.
Navigation and obstacle avoidance
All three brands map with LiDAR on their mid-range models, so getting lost isn't the problem. Spotting socks, cables and pet mess is. In Vacuum Wars' October 2026 ranking, the Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni and X12 OmniCyclone scored 23 out of 24 on its obstacle course and Dreame's X60 Max Ultra Complete scored 22. Roborock's Saros 20 managed 17, and its Qrevo Edge 2 was rated below average.
RTINGS sees the top of Roborock's range differently. Its best overall robot vacuum is the Saros 10R (research review: Roborock Saros 10R review), which it trusts to run unsupervised around cables and pet toys. Lower down, RTINGS calls the Qrevo Curv's avoidance mediocre, especially with pet waste and cords on carpet. Ecovacs has its own weak spot: Vacuum Wars noted navigation quirks on the T90 Pro, and a common complaint in r/ecovacs is maps that get rebuilt, rooms merged and no-go zones lost. Some X11 owners there report no trouble, so it isn't universal.
My D20 Air Plus has LiDAR and no camera. In my home it works around desk legs and cabinet bases without fuss, but with no camera it can't recognise objects, so a budget robot like this needs cables and socks off the floor before a run.
Mopping
If mopping is the main job, Ecovacs is the brand to beat. Ecovacs says the T90 Pro Omni's roller mop rinses itself with clean water as it goes, and Vacuum Wars says the T90 Pro Omni posted the second-highest combined mopping score it has recorded. Dreame's L60 models were less consistent in the same rankings: the L60 Ultra PE put down too little water and the L60 Pro Ultra too much. RTINGS found the Qrevo Curv's spinning pads effective on stuck-on stains, though they smear before they clear and leave a fair amount of water behind.
At the budget end, don't pay extra for a mop. My D20 Air Plus has a flat pad that doesn't lift or spin, and it leaves streaks on my vinyl floors. Our robot mop guide explains rollers versus pads: robot vacuum mopping explained.
Apps and privacy
Vacuum Wars describes Roborock's app as detailed, with live video and pet finding on camera models, and Dreame's as offering granular controls. Ecovacs is the brand with a security record to weigh. In May 2024, hacked Deebot X2 robots in several US cities were taken over by strangers, according to Global News, citing ABC News in Australia. Researchers had shown the robots' four-digit PIN could be bypassed because only the app checked it. Ecovacs said it found no evidence that accounts were breached and promised a security upgrade for X2 owners.
If a camera on wheels bothers you, buy a model without one. The D20 Air Plus is LiDAR-only, and our connected-robot privacy checklist covers the settings worth changing on any brand: connected robot privacy checklist.
Warranty, support and parts in Canada
Roborock's Canadian warranty is one year, covers only robots officially sold in Canada, and drops to six months on certified refurbished units. It runs a Canadian phone line seven days a week. The pattern in r/Roborock is what happens after the first year: robots that die just past the warranty, and owners who can't buy a genuine battery. Roborock's Canadian store sells dust bags, brushes and mop cloths but lists no batteries, and owners describe being sent to a paid mail-in repair or pointed to third-party batteries instead.
Dreame's three years covers the body, wheels, sensors, camera and docks. The battery gets one year, and brushes, filters and mops get one month. Buy from Walmart or another third-party store and you get that seller's policy instead. Dreame has the longest warranty but not the happiest repair stories: in r/RobotVacuums and r/Dreame, the recurring complaints are slow warranty repairs and robots that come back with new faults.
Ecovacs gives 12 months on robots bought in Canada or the US from Ecovacs or its dealers, and treats the battery as a wear part unless it's defective. Its Canadian store sells parts kits; the T90's quarterly kit was $175.89 on sale. The X11's bagless dock means no bags at all, while Dreame's 3.2 L bags are $27.99 for three and Roborock's are $46.99 for six. Our running-costs guide adds it all up: robot vacuum running costs.
This is why so many Canadians in r/RobotVacuums buy at Costco. Its satisfaction guarantee is broad, and the 90-day limit it puts on electronics lists TVs, computers and major appliances but doesn't name vacuums. Costco sells its own versions under different names, such as Roborock's QX Revo, Dreame's GoVac and Ecovacs CARE models. RedFlagDeals posters describe the GoVac 600 as a rebadged L50 Ultra; it was $1,299.99 as a bundle at Costco this week, against $919.99 for the L50 Ultra direct. Dreame's warranty terms only list its own site and Amazon.ca store, so a GoVac relies on Costco's policy.
What each brand costs in Canada
These prices were checked in October 2026 during the fall Prime and Tech Fest sales, so expect them to move before Black Friday on November 27.
Roborock: the Q10 S5 is $229.99 at Roborock, Amazon.ca and Best Buy, and the self-emptying Q10 S5+ is $379.99 at Roborock and Amazon.ca (research review: Roborock Q10 S5+ review). The Qrevo Curv is $899.99 at Best Buy, sold by Roborock through Best Buy's marketplace, on a sale ending October 15. The Qrevo Curv 2 Flow is $999.99 direct but $1,599.99 at Best Buy, the Saros 10 is $1,099.99 at Best Buy, and the Saros 20 is $1,699.99 direct.
Dreame, all at its Canadian store: D20 Air Plus $309.99, L40 Ultra Gen 2 $799.99, L50 Ultra $919.99, L60 Ultra PE $1,259.99, X50 Ultra $1,299.99 and X60 Max Ultra Complete $2,159.99. We have research reviews of the Saros 10 (Roborock Saros 10 review), Qrevo Curv 2 Flow (Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow review) and X50 Ultra (Dreame X50 Ultra review).
Ecovacs: the N30 Pro Omni is $399.99 at Costco, the T90 Pro Omni was $699.99 at Ecovacs Canada on a sale ending the day I checked ($809.99 for Costco's T90 Pro Omni CARE), and the bagless X11 OmniCyclone was $1,099.99 direct.
Two other brands come up. eufy's Omni C28 was $999.99 at Amazon.ca against a $1,399.99 list price, but camelcamelcamel shows it averaging about $888 and dipping to $649.99 in June, so wait for a sale. Vacuum Wars gave eufy's pricier Omni S2 a perfect 24 out of 24 on obstacles. According to Tom's Guide, iRobot went into administration in 2025 and was bought by Picea in February 2026, and it suggests holding off on Roombas for now. Costco has the Roomba 105 Combo at $349.99.
From a tech standpoint.
Buy Dreame if the warranty matters most, and buy it direct so the three years applies. The L50 Ultra at $919.99 is my pick (research review: Dreame L50 Ultra review). Vacuum Wars called it a favourite after three months of use, with strong mopping on fresh pads, though hair clogged its dock about once a week. On a tight budget, my D20 Air Plus handles the daily tidy for $309.99, as long as you don't need it to mop.
Buy Ecovacs if mopping comes first and you can live with a fussier app; the T90 Pro Omni is the best value of the three when it's near $700. Buy Roborock for a polished app and strong hard-floor cleaning; the Qrevo Curv at $899.99 is the sensible model (research review: Roborock Qrevo Curv review). With either one-year brand, Costco's version is the safer buy if the price is close.
