Not tested. This is a research score for the documented features, compatibility and ownership trade-offs discussed in this review, not a performance measurement.

Features & capability 30%8.5

Nearly every major video and image model in one app, plus Higgsfield's own Soul ID characters and camera-motion presets.

Compatibility & connectivity 20%6.5

Web app, an MCP connector for Claude and ChatGPT and editing plugins. But unlimited and free generations only work on the website, and our trial's credits only worked through the MCP.

Ownership & upkeep 20%4.0

Credits don't roll over, packs expire after 90 days, the same model is often cheaper direct, refunds are first-purchase-only, and uploads can be used for training by default.

Setup & everyday use 15%6.0

Easy to start and the generator shows credit costs up front, but sales pop-ups are constant and owners report long queues on unlimited plans.

Documentation & support clarity 15%4.5

The help centre is detailed, but the pricing page and the in-app upgrade screen disagree, the MCP-only trial is confusing, and owners report slow support.

The editorial verdict

From a tech standpoint.

Higgsfield is the most complete one-stop shop for AI video I've looked at, and that's worth something if you hop between Seedance, Kling and Veo. The business around it needs watching, though. Price a plan on its credits alone, pay monthly before you commit to a year, and set a reminder before any trial renews. If you only use one model, buy it from the company that makes it.

Reasons to consider it

  • Nearly every big AI video and image model in one app, with new ones like Seedance 2.5 and Kling 3.0 arriving quickly
  • Higgsfield's own tools, like Soul ID characters and camera-motion presets, go beyond a plain model menu
  • The generator shows the credit cost before you press Generate
  • Paid plans export without a watermark, and the terms say you own what you make

Go in knowing

  • "Unlimited" means set windows on specific models, in a slower shared queue, on the website only
  • Refunds only cover a first purchase with no credits used; renewals aren't refundable
  • Credits don't roll over, and the same model is often cheaper from the company that makes it
  • Your uploads and outputs can be used for training by default, with no opt-out switch
  • The pricing page and the in-app upgrade screen showed different Plus prices on the same day

01 / THE DETAILS

What you're paying for

Higgsfield is a web app that puts most of the big AI video and image models behind one login and one credit balance. That includes ByteDance's Seedance, Kuaishou's Kling, Google's Veo and Nano Banana, Alibaba's Wan and MiniMax's Hailuo. On top of those sit Higgsfield's own tools: Soul for images, Soul ID for training a consistent character from your photos, and camera-motion presets that make a clip look like it was shot from a crane or a drone.

It's a big company now. The Next Web reported a US$400 million raise at a US$5.4 billion valuation in August, and Higgsfield says it has more than 30 million users. Coverage hasn't all been kind. TechCrunch described much of what the platform produces as low-effort "slop" after an offensive viral video was made with it, and Futurism reported that Cannes said Higgsfield's AI feature film wasn't part of the official festival, despite the company's framing. On Trustpilot it averages 4.0 from about 5,000 reviews, but 18% of those are one-star.

The pitch is convenience. Instead of paying Kling, Google and ByteDance separately, you pay Higgsfield and switch models from one menu. Whether that's good value depends on how you use it, and that's where the fine print comes in.

02 / THE DETAILS

What we saw on our own account

We signed in to Higgsfield on October 12 to make the video for this review. This section covers what the account showed us: prices, credit costs and the trial. The next one covers what we actually made with it.

Our account had a Plus free trial labelled "for MCP" with 100 credits. Those credits only work through Higgsfield's connector for AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT, not on higgsfield.ai itself. When we pressed Generate on the website, we got an upgrade screen instead of a video. The trial renews at US$49 a month after three days unless you cancel. The subscription page does say that plainly, but it's easy to miss if you sign up through an assistant.

The generator shows the credit cost before you commit, which is useful. For Seedance 2.5 it worked out to about 3 credits a second at 480p and 7 a second at 720p, with a four-second minimum. A five-second 1080p clip was 60 credits, shown as a discount from 80.

Prices weren't consistent. The in-app upgrade screen offered Plus at US$49 a month, or US$39 billed yearly, for 1,000 credits. Higgsfield's public pricing page, checked the same day, listed Plus at US$59 a month, or US$47 yearly, for 1,200 credits. Both come to about five cents a credit, but you shouldn't need to compare two pages to find out what a plan costs.

The site also leans hard on upsells. We had to close several promo banners and pop-ups before we could get to the prompt box.

03 / THE DETAILS

What we made with it

We used the trial's 100 credits to make the two clips in our Instagram video, both with Seedance 2.5 at 720p through Higgsfield's connector for Claude. The first was a nine-second time-lapse of a rusty shipping container being turned into a glass-fronted studio. We asked for a camera that never moves, sparks from an angle grinder, a crew, cedar cladding, a rooftop deck and a sky going from sunrise to dusk. It cost 63 credits, the same as the website quotes, and it was ready in about four minutes.

The second clip used the last frame of the first as its starting image, with a prompt for a slow push-in to the studio's interior. It cost 35 credits and took about five minutes, which left us with two credits. Both clips worked on the first try, so we didn't pay for any retries. That's luckier than you should plan for.

The results are good enough to fool someone scrolling past. The camera really does stay put, the build happens in sensible stages, and the generated sound moves from grinding to crickets like we asked. Because the second clip starts exactly where the first ends, the two feel like one shot. Look closer and it cheats. The long container in the first frame turns into a shorter, boxier building, and in the second clip the camera floats through the glass instead of the open door we asked for. Fixing either would have meant paying for another attempt.

The connector has two quirks worth knowing about. It suggested an unrelated preset called "In the Dark" for both prompts and wouldn't generate until we turned it down. Its batch tool also rejected the Seedance 2.5 model name that the single-clip tool accepted. Neither cost us credits, but both would confuse a first-time user.

04 / THE DETAILS

The credit maths

The upgrade screen says 1,000 credits is about 67 Seedance 2.5 videos. That only holds for five-second clips at 480p, which looks soft on a phone. At 720p, the same 1,000 credits makes about 28 five-second clips. At 1080p it's about 16.

At Plus prices, a five-second 720p Seedance 2.5 clip costs roughly US$1.70 in credits, before your card's foreign-exchange fee. Most AI clips need more than one attempt to get right, so budget for retries.

Credits also have a shelf life. Monthly credits don't roll over, and extra credit packs and auto-refill credits expire after 90 days, according to Higgsfield's help centre. Only Enterprise plans roll credits over.

Going direct is often cheaper. Owners in r/generativeAI and r/seedance have posted detailed comparisons showing Seedance costs less on ByteDance's own Dreamina app than through Higgsfield. You lose the one-menu convenience, but if you mostly use one model, the difference adds up.

05 / THE DETAILS

"Unlimited" comes with an asterisk

Several plans advertise unlimited generations on certain models. Higgsfield's own help centre explains the catch: unlimited covers listed models for a set window, like seven or 30 days, runs in a slower shared queue, and only works on the website. The terms also let Higgsfield restrict or throttle usage, and say speed isn't guaranteed.

Owners have noticed. The most common complaint we found across r/generativeAI, r/HiggsfieldAI and r/Seedance_v2 is unlimited jobs sitting in a queue for hours, one at a time. In August, WION reported on wait-time complaints during an unlimited Seedance 2.5 promotion and said Higgsfield had refunded about US$1.35 million.

My advice is to treat unlimited as a bonus. Work out whether the plan's credits alone are worth the price. If they are, anything unlimited is extra.

06 / THE DETAILS

Refunds, trials and cancelling

Read this part before you pay. Higgsfield refunds only your first purchase, only within seven days, and only if you haven't used any credits. A fee of up to 6% can apply. Renewals aren't refundable, and annual plans are all-or-nothing. EU and UK buyers get a 14-day withdrawal right, but the terms don't mention anything specific to Canada.

That matters for trials. Ours renews at US$49 on day three, and renewal charges fall outside the refund policy. If you start a trial, set a reminder to cancel the day before. Refused refunds on renewals and accidental annual purchases come up again and again in owner posts on Reddit.

You cancel from the Subscription page in your account settings. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for, and then any unused subscription credits disappear.

07 / THE DETAILS

Your uploads, your rights and your privacy

Higgsfield's terms say you own what you make, and paid plans export without a watermark. Its pricing table marks commercial use as not included on the free plan, while the help centre says rights aren't tied to a plan. If the video is for a client or a brand, use a paid plan.

By default, Higgsfield can use your uploads, prompts and outputs to train its own and its affiliates' models. There's no switch to turn that off. Deleting the content or your account is the only way out, and anything already used for training stays in the models. Think twice before uploading the 20 to 80 photos of your face that Soul ID asks for.

The privacy policy says Higgsfield shares identifiers for cross-site advertising, with an opt-out through cookie settings or Global Privacy Control. It doesn't mention Canada or PIPEDA. Disputes go to binding arbitration under California law unless you opt out within 30 days of signing up.

08 / THE DETAILS

Who should pay for it

Higgsfield makes sense if you switch between several models every week and value having them in one place. Pay monthly first, ignore unlimited when you do the maths, and only go annual once you know you'll use the credits. Prices are in US dollars with tax added at checkout, and Higgsfield doesn't say how it handles GST or HST.

If you mostly use one model, go to the company that makes it. Dreamina for Seedance, Kling's own app, or Google's apps for Veo will usually cost less. If you're just curious, the US$19 Starter plan is the cheapest paid way in, but it only includes the lighter Seedance 2.0 Fast and Mini models, not Seedance 2.5.

Questions before checkout.

Is Higgsfield worth it?

If you use several AI video models every week, it can be. If you mostly use one, buying it from the company that makes it is usually cheaper. We score it 6.2 out of 10: the tools are excellent, but strict refunds, expiring credits and limited "unlimited" plans hold it back.

Is Higgsfield unlimited really unlimited?

Not the way most people read it. According to Higgsfield's help centre, unlimited applies to specific models for a set window, runs in a slower shared queue, and only works on higgsfield.ai.

Can I get a refund from Higgsfield?

Only for your first purchase, within seven days, and only if you haven't used any credits. Renewals aren't refundable, so cancel a trial before it renews if you don't want to pay.

Does Higgsfield charge in Canadian dollars?

No. Prices are in US dollars and tax is added at checkout, so expect your card's foreign-exchange fee. Higgsfield's billing help doesn't say how it handles GST or HST.

Does Higgsfield use my uploads to train AI?

Yes, by default. Its terms allow training on your inputs and outputs, and the only way out is deleting the content or your account. Enterprise contracts are the exception.
