01 / THE DETAILS

Two rotating discs make a distinctive cleaner

The HOBOT R3 uses two round cloth-covered cleaning wheels whose alternating movement both propels the robot and wipes the glass. That makes it a visibly different proposition from a square machine travelling on separate treads. HOBOT pairs that motion with dual ultrasonic spray, a remote, app functions and mains power with a backup holding system. The design is most interesting to a buyer who wants repeated wiping across accessible panes and accepts a hands-on placement routine. It does not remove the need to prepare dirty glass, change cloths or finish inaccessible borders. This is an analysis of the published mechanism and ownership implications, not a report that we have watched the R3 clean a house.

02 / THE DETAILS

Round pads imply a corner tradeoff

A circular cloth cannot physically occupy the exact point of a square inside corner. That geometric limitation is worth stating plainly before discussing navigation. The R3 may reduce a large amount of broad-surface wiping while leaving a small region near corners and frames for manual attention. Whether that is acceptable depends on the pane layout. On a large uninterrupted window, the remaining work may be modest. On a grid of small panes, repeated borders can account for much of the job. Measure your windows and confirm the permitted dimensions and frame conditions. A robot's ability to traverse the middle of a pane does not establish that it will deliver a complete finish around every edge.

03 / THE DETAILS

Movement and cleaning are coupled

Because the R3's cloth-covered discs participate in locomotion, cloth condition can influence both the finish and the way the machine travels. Too much dirt, inappropriate moisture or incorrectly fitted cloths may change friction and adhesion. Follow HOBOT's preparation instructions, which distinguish dust removal and wet cleaning, rather than assuming more fluid always improves the result. We would observe whether the robot moves consistently on the first pane and after several cloth changes. A stalled or wandering cleaner should be assessed for pad seating and surface condition before concluding that its route planning is inadequate. The mechanism is elegant in concept, but that coupling makes the owner’s handling of the cloths a central part of performance.

04 / THE DETAILS

Ultrasonic mist still needs the right fluid

HOBOT describes fine spray from two nozzles and says its specified detergent or suitable pure water can be used as directed. Follow the exact regional manual and avoid assuming that any household glass cleaner is compatible with the ultrasonic system. Residue, foaming and nozzle deposits can change the result. A fine mist can distribute moisture, but it cannot guarantee removal of dried deposits or avoid streaking with an already dirty cloth. Inspect the glass after drying, preferably in light coming from the side. The most useful comparison is the amount of manual finishing required after a normal run. A wet pane that looks clear for a moment is not sufficient evidence of a completed cleaning task.

05 / THE DETAILS

Corded operation simplifies endurance

A mains-powered cleaning routine avoids waiting for a large working battery between panes. The owner still needs a suitable outlet, secure connections and a route for the lead that does not catch on the window hardware. HOBOT's internal backup system is intended to maintain attachment temporarily during a power problem, not to turn the R3 into a cordless cleaner. Charge and maintain that reserve according to the instructions. Think through the entire room before starting: where the cable lies, how the tether is anchored and how the robot will be moved to the next pane. A long lead is useful only when it can be managed safely. Do not improvise extension or anchoring arrangements outside the approved setup.

06 / THE DETAILS

Remote control and voice feedback

The R3 includes a physical remote as well as app-based functions and configurable voice prompts. A remote is useful if the owner wants to steer a missed area or retrieve the machine without reaching for a phone. Voice feedback can make a fault easier to notice, although it does not remove the need to remain nearby. Check that the current app works with your device before relying on updates or custom settings. We have not measured connectivity range or sound levels. For a robot used occasionally, a simple repeatable setup procedure may be more valuable than custom voices. Make sure other household users understand normal start, stop and retrieval behaviour rather than depending on one person's familiarity with the app.

07 / THE DETAILS

Safety starts before the motor

The manufacturer specifies a safety rope and a temporary holding system. Use the rope and anchor exactly as instructed, confirm that the glass and surroundings are suitable and keep the area below clear of people and pets. Do not use a window robot to justify leaning out of a building or working from an insecure position. Moisture, wind, surface damage and unsupported materials can change the conditions under which adhesion is expected to work. We have not tested the safety system and do not present its published holding period as a guarantee. Remain available to respond to alarms and retrieve the device. The intended convenience is reduced repetitive wiping, not the removal of responsibility for placement and supervision.

Maintenance and service are tangible questions

HOBOT describes replaceable water tanks when a spray nozzle requires attention. That is useful only if the appropriate part remains available from a seller serving your region. Check the supply of cloths, rings or fastening components, tanks, chargers and service for the backup battery. Clean and dry the cloths after every session and inspect the power connector and rope before the next use. A used R3 should demonstrate normal travel, spray and reliable attachment on permitted glass, with all required safety components included. We have not established a long-term repair rate. The sensible ownership case rests on accessible consumables and a clear maintenance routine, not on assuming that a relatively small appliance has no meaningful upkeep.

09 / THE DETAILS

Where the R3 makes sense

The R3 is worth considering for substantial accessible glass where its rotating-cloth approach can remove repetitive broad-area work. It is less appealing when perfect corner coverage or many tiny panes dominate the job. The S7 Pro provides a different agitation mechanism; WINBOT models offer other body sizes and, in some cases, a portable station. Compare them by the windows you own, not by a universal ranking. Our outstanding tests would examine streaking, pad loading, border touch-up, handling and the full time spent on a room. Until those are performed, the R3 is a conditional choice with a clear mechanical personality: potentially useful wiping automation whose round pads and coupled movement need to match the owner's expectations.
