How the Standpoint Score works

We score five aspects of the documented product on a 0–10 scale, then calculate a weighted total:

  1. Task capability30% of the total
  2. Navigation & control20% of the total

The editorial verdict

The ownership case.

A straightforward wired option worth considering as a supported used purchase. Its discontinued status and dealer-managed firmware make condition and local service more important than the original selling price.

Reasons to consider it

  • Simple local control proposition
  • Documented service and parts reference
  • Useful option for an existing wired lawn

Go in knowing

  • Discontinued model
  • No GPS theft tracking listed
  • Exact 115H variant must be confirmed

01 / THE DETAILS

A basic Automower with an important identity check

The 115H is interesting because it asks whether a lawn actually needs the newest navigation system. The Bluetooth model documented here uses a simpler control arrangement and has a published capacity of 0.4 acre. Its appeal is a routine that can run inside a settled installation without requiring the owner to buy into a camera-led product. This is a research assessment of the Bluetooth version, not a test of every machine sold under the 115H name.

That distinction matters now. The manufacturer redirects the old product address to a support page marked discontinued, and that page identifies Bluetooth self-install variants. Do not assume an advertisement for a 115H includes cellular monitoring, GPS theft recovery, or the same electronics as another regional package. The support table explicitly lists no GPS theft tracking and dealer service for firmware. A seller should demonstrate the particular machine, including its station and PIN, before a used purchase is judged a bargain.

02 / THE DETAILS

Where the chassis makes sense

The narrow 8.7-inch cutting width favours frequent maintenance rather than occasional recovery of a neglected lawn. There is no basis here to promise a particular finish in damp grass or after a missed week. On paper, the 30% internal slope rating is more restrictive than the 415X's figure. It would be a mistake to choose the 115H for a sharply banked garden merely because both machines wear the Automower name.

The separate 15% boundary slope limit deserves attention. A mower can be rated to climb a hill inside its working area while needing a flatter place to turn at the edge. Survey the outside of the lawn, especially beside retaining walls and drainage swales. The listed single guide connection also makes the charging route worth planning carefully on a divided plot. Several simple rectangles may be easier than one small lawn with a bottleneck and an awkward station position.

03 / THE DETAILS

What we would establish before recommending it

A useful evaluation would start with battery condition, reliable docking, and whether the owner can reach every control without relying on an unsupported phone setup. The published 60-minute typical mowing time is a reference, not a diagnosis of a used battery. Compare multiple cycles in similar grass and weather before drawing conclusions. A machine that returns early may be protecting itself from another condition rather than simply suffering cell wear.

The main comparison is with the cost of restoring the complete system. Add installation materials, a potential battery, blades, and any dealer work to the asking price. If that total approaches a supported modern mower, the argument weakens. If a sound station and boundary already exist, the 115H can instead be a rational way to preserve useful equipment. We would want a month of recorded interventions before making any claim about reliability or labour saved.

04 / THE DETAILS

A practical acceptance test before relying on it

For a concrete acceptance check, start the 115H from the furthest part of the installed lawn and let it complete several ordinary cycles with the phone out of Bluetooth range. This distinguishes useful autonomous scheduling from the convenience of a nearby app connection. Record every missed docking attempt and compare the battery's behaviour on similar days. Then examine the guide route and boundary corners for places where a small change in installation would remove repeated trouble. A seller's brief demonstration beside the station does not answer these questions. For this discontinued Bluetooth machine, a complete locally usable routine is more valuable than an impressive feature claim inherited from another 115H version.

05 / THE DETAILS

Setup, maintenance and the ownership decision

The 115H's local-control character should influence where it lives. Put the charging station somewhere the owner can reach without crossing a difficult bank or moving outdoor furniture. Bluetooth is most convenient when a person can stand near the machine to make adjustments. The keypad and display also deserve a demonstration, because a basic mower should remain understandable when the phone is unavailable. We would ask a seller to show a complete start, stop and schedule change through the controls actually present on the unit. A claim that another 115H supports remote features does not answer that usability question.

The physical wire is a lasting part of this purchase. On a small lawn, tight corners and narrow strips can require disproportionate installation effort, even though relatively little grass is involved. Mark junctions and keep a plan of the loop so that a future border change does not become a guessing exercise. Where an existing installation is offered with a used mower, inspect the station connections and confirm compatibility. A functioning robot beside a broken loop is not a functioning lawn-care system. Budget for appropriate connectors and enough spare material to correct the first installation after observing actual mowing.

The three pivoting blades need routine inspection, particularly if this inexpensive used purchase is intended for a garden with fallen twigs or stony edges. Disable the mower as instructed before touching the underside. The support page's IPX5 entry is not a complete cleaning procedure; obtain the manual for the exact variant before introducing water. The absence of a skid plate and dual cutting direction in the listed specification gives further reason to inspect the actual cutting assembly rather than assume it matches another Automower. Replacement blades should fit the correct screws and mounting arrangement, not merely look similar in an online photograph.

The security proposition is modest. Husqvarna lists a PIN and lift and tilt sensors, but explicitly lists no GPS theft tracking. That makes sensible station placement and controlled account or PIN handover important on a used machine. We would verify the owner can stop it locally and protect the active area from children, pets and loose objects. A quiet autonomous mower is still powered cutting equipment. When several people use the garden, the schedule should be obvious enough that nobody discovers it running while playing or carrying out maintenance nearby.

The discontinued status puts repair economics at the centre of the verdict. Obtain actual local prices for a battery, charging supply and diagnostic visit, then add them to the asking price if their condition is uncertain. Dealer-managed firmware can involve transport as well as labour. A nearby workshop willing to handle this serial number is more useful than a general claim of nationwide support. Retain purchase and service records for eventual resale. The 115H can make sense precisely because it is basic, but that advantage disappears if restoring missing components turns it into an expensive project.

06 / THE DETAILS

Seasonal storage and return to work

Seasonal storage is a useful moment to assess whether the inexpensive 115H still represents good value. Follow its battery-storage instructions, label the station connections and inspect the physical loop before spring growth conceals it. Because firmware service is dealer-managed, combine any needed diagnostic visit with planned downtime where possible. Do not invent a charging interval from another robot's manual. Keep the PIN and installation drawing somewhere the next operator can find them; a simple machine is only simple to restart when its essential information has been preserved.
