The short version

Samsung hasn't announced the Galaxy S27 series. No name, no date, no price. Everything below is sorted into three buckets: Confirmed means Samsung or Qualcomm said it. Reported means a named outlet or leaker said it, and we tell you how sure they sounded. Our take is our read of what it means for a Canadian buyer.

Here's what's actually confirmed. Qualcomm announced two new flagship chips at Snapdragon Summit 2026 in September, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. In June, Samsung's System LSI president, Park Yong-In, said the company is developing the Exynos 2700 and is aiming it at "top-tier smartphones", as reported by Hankyung and SamMobile. Samsung didn't say which phones. That's the whole confirmed list.

The rumors that matter most: four models instead of three, a battery bump for the Ultra, a reshaped camera on the back, and a launch that could land as early as January.

The lineup: S27, S27+, S27 Pro and S27 Ultra

Reported: Korean outlet ETNews says Samsung's mobile division has settled on four models, adding a Galaxy S27 Pro between the S27+ and the Ultra. SamMobile, citing ETNews, puts the Pro's screen at 6.47 inches and says it drops the S Pen while keeping most of the Ultra's hardware. A US price leak from the X account @phonefuturist, covered by 9to5Google, also lists four models.

Be careful with this one. A Galaxy S26 Pro was rumored last year too, and Samsung shipped only the S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra. The ETNews report is more specific this time, and the price leak lines up with it, but it's still a report, not a fact.

What about an Edge? None of the named-source leaks we read include an S27 Edge. Our take: don't plan around one.

Chips: what Canada will likely get

Confirmed: SamMobile's coverage of Qualcomm's launch says both new Snapdragon chips are 2nm parts built by TSMC, with two prime cores at up to 5GHz. Qualcomm claims the Extreme version is 13% faster on the CPU and 44% faster on graphics than last year's 8 Elite Gen 5.

Reported: SamMobile says the S27 Pro and Ultra could use the Extreme chip globally. Money Today, a Korean outlet, reported in July that the S27 Pro would use the Exynos 2700 in most markets but Snapdragon in Canada, Mexico and the US.

There's also a fight brewing. A Korean report in mid-October claimed the Extreme chip ran too hot in Samsung's internal tests. Qualcomm's chief marketing officer pushed back on X, calling the reports inaccurate, according to ChannelNews. Samsung hasn't commented on its chip plans. Treat the overheating story as unproven.

Our take for Canada: this is a pattern, not a fact. Canada has historically been grouped with the US for Snapdragon. MobileSyrup's Canadian S26 spec sheet lists Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 across all three models. If Money Today is right, Canadian S27s stay on Snapdragon. We'd bet on it, but we wouldn't promise it.

Cameras and design

Reported: the Ultra's main camera stays at 200MP. Leaker Ice Universe, via GSMArena, says Samsung is using a tweaked sensor called the HP6 in the 1/1.3-inch class. Tipster Digital Chat Station had talked up a bigger 1/1.12-inch 200MP sensor, but didn't tie it to the S27 Ultra. So the leakers disagree, and the smaller sensor is the more specific claim.

Reported: Sammy Fans says earlier leaks point to three rear cameras on the Ultra: 200MP main, 50MP ultrawide and a 50MP periscope. That means the separate 3x zoom would be gone. If you shoot a lot at 3x, that's a real change, and not obviously a better one.

Reported: an Ice Universe case video, covered by Sammy Fans on October 17, shows a horizontal camera bar across the back instead of the vertical stack. Nokiamob, also citing Ice Universe, reports bezels shrinking from 1.32mm to 1.28mm and a camera bump growing to 4.69mm. Cases only approximate a phone's shape, so this is low-to-moderate confidence. And 0.04mm of bezel is something nobody will notice.

Display, battery and charging

Reported: the @phonefuturist leak says the S27 and S27+ use Samsung's M14+ OLED panel while the Pro and Ultra get the newer M16 panel. 9to5Google notes the M16 may enable a privacy display on the top two models.

Reported, with more evidence than most: China's 3C certification database lists a Samsung SDI cell, model EB-BS958DBY, rated at 5,534mAh. Notebookcheck, citing GSMArena, says that should work out to about 5,700mAh typical for the Ultra, up from 5,000mAh on the S26 Ultra. The Pro's cell is listed at 5,087mAh rated, roughly 5,200mAh typical. Certification filings are harder to fake than a tweet, so this is the strongest rumor in the whole set.

Reported: those same 3C listings show 60W wired charging for the Ultra and Pro, the same as the S26 Ultra. Our take: the battery is the upgrade Ultra owners have asked about for years. The charging speed isn't moving.

Software, AI and the S Pen

Reported: SamMobile spotted what looks like the first One UI 9.5 firmware for a US Galaxy S27 Ultra on Samsung's servers in August. One UI 9 launched on the Z Fold 8 foldables, so One UI 9.5 on the S27 follows how the S26 shipped with One UI 8.5.

On AI, we found no solid leak. SamMobile only speculates about expanded Galaxy AI features. Anyone listing specific S27 AI tricks right now is guessing.

The S Pen: every report frames the Pro as the Ultra without the stylus, which implies the Ultra keeps it. No credible leak says the Ultra drops the S Pen.

Launch date and Canadian prices

Reported: Korean tipster Lanzuk (yeux1122 on Naver), whom SamMobile describes as having a solid record with Samsung leaks, per tbreak, says Samsung is aiming for a January 2027 unveiling, with February at the latest. tbreak reports the base S27 and S27+ components are final. Notebookcheck calls February the safer bet. For context, the S26 was unveiled on February 25, 2026 and hit Canadian shelves March 11, per MobileSyrup.

Reported: @phonefuturist's US targets were first $899, $1,099, $1,299 and $1,399 for the S27, S27+, Pro and Ultra, then amended to $999, $1,199, $1,399 and $1,499 after another leaker said the first set was old. Those are US dollars, labelled "current targets" by the leaker, and they've already changed once.

Confirmed Canadian baseline: the S26 launched here at $1,249.99, $1,529.99 and $1,899.99 for the 256GB S26, S26+ and Ultra, per MobileSyrup. In October, Samsung raised those to $1,399.99, $1,679.99 and $2,049.99, per iPhone in Canada. SamMobile ties the hike to memory chip costs.

Our estimate, clearly labelled: Canadian S27 pricing will likely start at or above today's raised S26 prices, not the launch ones. An S27 Ultra at $2,049.99 or more for 256GB wouldn't surprise us. Samsung hasn't published a single S27 price.

What usually happens here: at the S26 launch, Samsung Canada offered free double storage on pre-orders, trade-in credit of up to $945 for an S25 Ultra and an annual upgrade program, per MobileSyrup. That's history, not a promise for the S27, but pre-ordering direct from Samsung has been the best value at launch two years running. Carriers like Freedom Mobile have also undercut on monthly pricing.

Buy now or wait?

Wait if you're on an S23 Ultra or older and battery life is your main gripe. The 3C battery filing is the most believable upgrade here, and the S27 is only three or four months out.

Buy now if your phone is failing, or if you rely on 3x zoom. The S26 Ultra keeps its dedicated 3x lens, and the S27 Ultra reportedly doesn't. Look for a sale, though. The S26 Ultra just got $150 more expensive at Samsung Canada, so a last-gen Ultra on sale can be the smarter buy. Our Galaxy S25 Ultra review is here: Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra review.

If you just want a good Samsung for less, the S26 FE skipped October's price hike, per iPhone in Canada, and starts at $1,049.99: Samsung Galaxy S26 FE review. Shopping across brands? Compare the Pixel 11 Pro (Google Pixel 11 Pro review) and iPhone 18 Pro (Apple iPhone 18 Pro review) before you commit.

The bottom line

From a tech standpoint.

The Galaxy S27 looks like a careful update with one real upgrade. The bigger Ultra battery has paperwork behind it. The camera bar, the new Pro and the January date are believable but unproven. Prices are the worry: memory costs already pushed the S26 up $150 in Canada, and nothing suggests the S27 will reverse that.

Canadians will most likely get Snapdragon again, since that's been the pattern. If your phone is fine, wait for Unpacked and the pre-order deals. If it isn't, a discounted S26 Ultra or S25 Ultra is a safe buy today. We'll update this page when Samsung sends invites.
